Opening the night was Vandaveer, a girl/guy duo from Washington, D.C. Mark Heidinger played acoustic guitar and Rose Guerin sang perched on a bar stool. Their chemistry hinted at the extensive touring they’ve done together, gracing over 500 stages. Before they began playing, their country roots were clear from Heidinger's boots and Guerin's flower-laden curls. They enamored the crowd with intimate songs and Heidinger's adorably self-deprecating banter.
The Blank Tapes Energize with Lo-fi Psych Rock
Next came the Blank Tapes, jumping straight into a vibrant set of nostalgia-inducing lo-fi psych rock. From San Fran, they gave away their origins through floral motifs and bohemian styles. Led by 60s rock enthusiast Matt Adams, the three-piece band drove through tunes reminiscent of beach frolics and vintage Californian vibes.
